Driving skills, standards and careers: FPSB India joins hands with BFSI SSC Universal Newsline

Mumbai, September 3, 2026: FPSB India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) to strengthen financial planning education, professional standards and workforce readiness across the country’s banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sector.

The collaboration is designed to support skill development, improve employability and help build a stronger talent pipeline for the financial services industry. It also seeks to create greater awareness around career opportunities in financial planning and encourage more learners and young professionals to consider the profession.

The MoU was signed by Ramesh Vishwanathan, CEO, FPSB India, and Rishi Dhariwal, CEO, BFSI Sector Skill Council of India, at the BFSI SSC office in Mumbai. Senior leadership from both organisations was present at the signing ceremony.

The two organisations said they would explore initiatives in education, professional development, industry engagement, career awareness and capability building. The partnership is expected to bring together FPSB India’s experience in advancing the financial planning profession and BFSI SSC’s expertise in skilling and workforce development.

Speaking on the occasion, Vishwanathan said financial decision-making was becoming increasingly complex for individuals and families, making access to competent and ethical financial planning more important than ever. He said the sector needs professionals with not only technical knowledge but also a strong understanding of client needs and long-term financial outcomes.

“This association represents an opportunity to encourage greater participation in the financial planning profession and support the development of capabilities that are relevant in today’s dynamic environment,” Vishwanathan said. “We believe such collaborations can play a meaningful role in elevating professional standards and creating a stronger foundation for the future of financial planning in India.”

Dhariwal said India’s financial services landscape is witnessing significant growth and transformation, creating diverse opportunities across banking, insurance, wealth management and fintech.

“As roles evolve, there is a growing need to ensure that aspiring professionals are equipped with practical knowledge and competencies that align with industry expectations,” Dhariwal said. “We see this collaboration as an opportunity to facilitate learning pathways, encourage professional growth and help individuals build rewarding careers within the financial services sector.”

He added that working together would contribute to a more capable workforce that is prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

As the BFSI sector continues to evolve, the need for professionals who combine technical expertise with ethical practice and an understanding of consumer needs is becoming more pronounced. FPSB India and BFSI SSC said the partnership aims to support the development of a skilled talent pool and foster professional excellence across the industry.
