I had never approached Aamir: Nandita Singgha

Aamir Khan Hindi Film Industry Actor was never approached by Me for Hollywood Movie MEGACORP Says Nandita Singgha (Michelle) To Clarify All Rumours
Hollywood Filmmaker Michelle better known as Nandita Singgha in India says every actor is good and I have great respect for Mr. Aamir Khan for his Hindi movies.
He has showcased his talent with a proven track record and there is no doubt in terms of excellence in his meticulous acting skills. However for the Hollywood movie MEGACORP which I am only Directing I had never approached him though he was on my wishlist for another Hollywood & Bollywood flick Mid Dey which I am Producing and Directing as well in co- Production with Hollywood production house based in US.

Aamir Khan with Satyamev Jayate image could have done justice to J Dey ‘s role however there’s another A Grade Star who is in consideration who knew J Dey personally too who can get into the skin of the character and also do proper justice to showcase the greatness of Indian Journalism globally. However the Final Draft of Mid Dey and other pending delays by the creative writers, Co- writers of Mid Dey has delayed the Project which she had announced in the month of March 2015 and now out of her 4 movies RED,J Returns,MEGACORP and Mid Dey and thus Mid Dey film will now be the last release.

Mid Dey shoot will commence in March 2017 and will give enough time to the actors to get into the skin of the character and the dates will also be managed along with a renowned Hollywood actress. Nandita will first shoot for J Returns then later her dates are in the process of being blocked. MidDey will now release after MEGACORP in December 2017 due to dates scheduling and preparation by A grade Hindi film industry star. The preparation from writers are still pending for the final draft.

I have shortlisted Hrithik Roshan for Hollywood movie MEGACORP after seeing the FANS Poll Results response where Crores of people viewed not only in India but overseas as well which resulted in more than 1 Lakh shares in the poll conducted by a renowned Bollywood website (Bollywood Life).

This reconfirmed my faith about Hrithik Roshan’s popularity in India as I had already referred him to the Hollywood Production House after watching his latest ad film for Mountain Dew with the tagline “Dar ke aage Jeet hai” . I strongly felt that Hrithik should have been in Hollywood long back as he can add value with his freshness in Hollywood movies.

MEGACORP will be shot in Namibia from December 2016 onwards and 80 % will be completed in One schedule itself. Hrithik’s details and ad film video have been sent to the Hollywood production house for approval and consideration and accordingly if everything works out I too will join them in US. The Hollywood production company is extremely happy with Michelle which is Nandita Singhha ‘s birth name.

The shooting location for MEGACORP does not have proper facilities for boarding and lodging being a realistic location and is located in a remote location in Namibia but Nandita Singgha says we are here to meet all challenges then only the true incident based movie MEGACORP with entertainment value will be liked by audience worldwide.

Let’s wait and watch what’s there in store for this film project. The Hollywood production house based in US will announce formally the entire Cast & Crew in October 2016 before the shoot starts as part of marketing and publicity campaign. She reiterates,” In the MEGACORP movie I am only the Director and all decisions are taken by the Hollywood Production House. “

On World Youth Day UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra’s Message to Adolescents

Mumbai, 12th August 2015 - UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Priyanka Chopra today emphasised the importance of stepping up the fight against adolescent anaemia*, regarded as a major health problem among adolescents in developing countries including India.

“One out of two young girls and one out of three young boys in India are anaemic. Anaemia is a serious health problem not only in rural but also in the urban areas. Anaemia can be prevented by taking iron-rich diet, Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablets once a week and deworming tablets every six months. It is really that simple,” Priyanka said addressing the youth from across the county, in a short film released today to mark the World Youth Day.

The film highlights the importance of the Government of India’s Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme for adolescents. The programme was launched in 2012 to reduce severity and prevalence of nutritional anaemia in adolescents between 15 and 19 years. As many as 56 per cent girls and 30 per cent boys in this age group in India are anaemic, according to the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) 3 data. This group comprises one-fourth of India’s population and is a key driver of its future economic growth.

Dr. Sushma Dureja, Deputy Commissioner, Adolescent Health said, “The target for WIFS programme are adolescent girls and boys in government,  government aided and municipal schools, between classes 6 and 12 along with out of school adolescent girls . The aim is to improve the iron stores in the adolescent population thereby addressing the problem of anaemia caused by nutritional deficiency.”

The WIFS programme, which also covers out-of-school adolescent girls through Anganwadi centers, uses a proven and highly effective solution of providing (free of cost) weekly supplementation of deworming tablets, along with screening and counselling services.

The programme has four components namely, supervised ingestion of weekly iron and folic acid tablet, screening for moderate or severe anaemia and referral to nearest health facility,  deworming treatment every six months and nutrition and health education to encourage consumption of locally available iron-rich food and preventing parasitic infections.

Research shows that after the first year of life, adolescence is the second highest growth spurt period. Adolescents, if given the right nutrition, gain up to 50 per cent of their adult weight, more than 20 percent of their adult height, and 50 percent of their adult bone mass during this period.
Lack of iron in diets, perpetuates the inter-generational cycle of anaemia whereby anaemic women give birth to children with low body iron stores, resulting in irreversible consequences on children’s health and development.

Worldwide, it is estimated that about 20 per cent of maternal deaths are caused by anaemia; in addition, anaemia contributes partly to 50 per cent of all maternal deaths.

* The prevalence of anaemia (Haemoglobin value of <12 g% in girls and Haemoglobin value of  < 13g% in boys) is high amongst adolescents in India as per the report of  NFHS-III and the National Nutrition Monitoring Bureau Survey.

R. K. Laxman's cartoons lived in the hearts of Indians for over 25 years. Nandita Singgha – a sensitive filmmaker, makes meaningful films

India’s First Woman Film maker to direct an International Film on Indian Crime Journalism

Nandita Singgha is presently writing, producing and even directing four films with journalistic background. The films are 1: MID-DEY 2:J RETURNS 3: MEGA CORP and 4: RED. She has already shot 35% of the first two films MID-DEY and J. RETURNS in Delhi. The character who will play the role of  J. DEY will be an A List actor who will be shortly announced by her.The film MID-DEY is all set for completion by September-October and will be released in December 2015 itself while the sequel J.RETURNS will be released in March 2016.
Excerpts from a brief chat with Nandita Singgha.
How did the idea of making a films on  journalistic background  come to you ?
The broad daylight murder of J. Dey was the most shocking thing to happen. I just started probing the life of a journalist. I found that the pen of the journalist is the most powerful. He or she who is a journalist can easily come out with a story without any fear. When you compare a journalist with a lawyer or a policeman, we find that the journalist is doing far better service to mankind. A lawyer can lie . A policeman can file an FIR which can turn out to be fabricated too. But the journalist will write his story after his own true research and then the whole society reads it and applauds it too. Here was J. Dey who was writing a book on FIVE GANGSTERS and he paid his price to the bullet .That means a real journalist’s life is totally insecure. I am also fighting for the rights for journalists. There is no pension scheme for journalists. Why ? Half of the courses in journalism in India have closed their shops as they say Journalism is not a paying job. I found the journalists very hardworking who write and have no regular duty hours. They even come late night to their house as they have to complete a dead line for their stories. If so much hard work a journalist can do the why is the Government not helping them to get them benefits. The same journalists have made Modi jee the Prime Minister, Kejriwal the CM of Delhi, made Anna Hazare a national Hero and all the actors owe their stardom to journalists. It is now pay back time. In my own humble way , I am glorifying and highlighting the life of a journalist and that too with the eye of a lady journalist from U.K. who is shocked to see the life and times of an Indian journalist.I am the first woman filmmaker to direct an international film on Indian crime journalism. To give more authenticity to my films, I have also taken help of few  journalists to write the scripts and some  of them are creative writers too. It took 16 drafts to complete the first script of al the four films.
You come from a corporate world and you have seen the rise and rise of corporates who have taken over the media in a big way . Comments.
Yes, today corporates have understood the strength of the media and are investing in a big way. The good old days of aristrocatic journalism is also coming back. Some of my old friends have been great editors too. I was a child when I had met Khushwant Singh several times.I was only 13 years old when I first won a debate  and a prize money  of 30,000 US dollars in Durban. Two American companies Motorolla and  3 M gave me training in technology and I introduced  the first video conferencing in the Asia-Pacific region. I even got several international awards for years together. I then branched out to advertisement shorts and have already made more than 430 advt. shorts for the digital world. Today, I have over 20 offices world wide and have more than 8,000 employees working for my company TOTAL PRESENTATION DEVICES LIMITED.
It is easy for the corporates to operate in a regularised manner. Hence the corporates are making their own killing in the Bollywood film industry too.
Coming back to your filmmaking journey, how has been the experience so far ?
I have already made eleven films in South in all the languages i.e. Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. I have even directed a Bollywood film in 2007. I was always passionate in my work and I found that technically we are now very superior, almost every big director is making good cinema but only a handful of them are really concentrating in the content of the film. I liked the way A.R..Murugudoss makes his films. He is more focussed towards the content and knows to thrill the audiences with good stories which caters to all age groups. I appreciate his style of filmmaking. Also, I adore the style of Rakeysh Om Prakash .Even I will want to be known as a sensitive filmmaker who makes meaningful films with a purpose and also which has youth appeal. I have taken 37 characters who are all journalists in MID-DEY and J. RETURNS. Most of them are from NSD. It will be  a hardcore commercial film too with music, songs, fights etc.

Writer Julia Regul Singh to speak at Jumpstart 2015

New Delhi, 9 August, 2015:

Julia Regul Singh, the author of the children’s book, Boris the Bench, will be speaking at the Jumpstart Festival on August 18, 2015 at India International Centre, New Delhi. An initiative of the German Book Office New Delhi supported by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, Jumpstart is India's only annual congress of children's content creators since 2009 that brings together hundreds of professionals - designers, artists, educators, publishers, booksellers and storytellers from the world of children’s books. The theme for Jumpstart 2015 is: ‘Get Storyfied! What is a story?’ Julia, who has also worked as an urban planner and urban designer in Germany and the US before turning to writing, will be participating in the panel discussion, “Storydust”exploring the elements of a good story: plot, characterization, writing style, illustration, visualization and a combination of all these.

Sharing her views, Julia said, “Stories are not only important for us to learn new lessons, they are essential in teaching our children about the world around them. Telling or reading our children stories is the closest way to have them experience “learning by doing” in the comfort of their parents’ laps. A good story should, therefore, help children learn new things about their lives and the world we live in. The key message should be conveyed in a highly simplified yet engaging manner to keep a child interested in the story. Empowering children with tales that highlight the values of humanity, love and compassion which can help nurture future generations into better human beings.” She added, “Stories spark their imaginations and make them realize that they are amongst others in similar situations and that there are many ways of dealing with life. I know it works when my 8 year old son tells me – after I am trying to explain him that he can’t keep calling me over and over again unless it is an emergency – and he says “Yes mom I understand, it is just like in the story with the boy who cried wolf!”

Other panelists include illustrator Nicki Greenberg and writer Leonie Norrington from Australia and screenwriter Motti Aviram from Israel. The panel will be moderated by Sayoni Basu, publisher and founder of Duckbill Books.

Julia has also authored Leap of Faith, a fictional account of an Indo-German wedding that emphasises on need for cross-cultural tolerance in today’s globalized world in a funny and warm manner.

About Jumpstart 2015:
Jumpstart 2015 is an initiative of the German Book Office New Delhi, supported by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany. Every year, it elicits tremendous enthusiasm from our participants, coming from all over India. Today, it’s India's only annual congress of children's content creators, reaching out to hundreds of professionals-designers, artists, educators, publishers, booksellers and storytellers. We want to bring together experts from the publishing, media, education, digital and creative industries to create dialogue and explore the different facets of narrative creation through the intersections of storytelling, imagination, technology and reality that will translate into better content for children. We wish to explore the vibrant links between traditional storytelling practices, digital initiatives, visual arts and pedagogy.

About the author, Julia Regul Singh:
Julia is the author of Boris the Bench (Urban Crayon Press, 2010), a children’s book. Julia’s first fiction novel for adults is Leap of Faith (Rupa Publications, 2015). She holds a bachelor degree of geography from the University of Bayreuth (Germany) and a master degree in urban planning and urban design from the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (Germany) and attended Columbia University in New York City as part of her masters. Why the Smart City Concept is Catching On

Tight budgets, enthusiastic supporters, and business opportunities are fueling the movement

-Kathy Pretz, IEEE Member

An IEEE Affiliated Smart City, Guayaquil, Ecuador, is providing wireless Internet through 6,000 access points in public spaces.
More than 20 cities are now participating in the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative, and that number will only go up, predicts Gilles Betis, the initiative’s chair. The program is a global, multidisciplinary effort through which IEEE seeks to help municipalities address the huge demands on land, resources, and services associated with population growth.

Nearly 30 have applied in the last two calls for applications for what are called IEEE Core Smart Cities but because of the initiative’s limited resources, only up to two can be selected for each round. Guadalajara, Mexico; Trento, Italy; and Wuxi, China have been chosen so far. (Applications are now being accepted for the next two core cities. The deadline is 14 August.)

But there’s been so much interest and the quality of the past applications have been so high that the initiative last year created the IEEE Affiliated Smart Cities category for those that didn’t meet all the requirements for core cities. The affiliated cities is where Betis says the growth of the program will come from. But why the sudden interest by towns to smarten themselves up? There are several reasons, he says, including tight budgets, involved citizens, and business opportunities.

“The frugal development of a city is something very important in the world today because of financial constraints,” Betis says. “Cities have to learn to do more with less.”

TIMING IS EVERYTHING
Take the affiliated city of Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest city with more than 2 million people. In the profile it submitted to the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative, it reported the city’s population had steadily grown over the past decade as people migrated there for socioeconomic growth opportunities. “This has put pressure on basic services such as potable water, electricity, garbage collection, and street maintenance.”

According to Betis, participating cities report they need better infrastructure to create more value for everyone, including citizens, businesses, and service providers. “Infrastructure is key to creating wealth in a city,” he says.

Another factor is the new technologies that can make a city more efficient, according to Yinhai Wang, an IEEE member who is part of the initiative’s working group. “Information and sensing technology has developed to the point where they can support activities like environmental monitoring, integrated power grids, and traffic system operation. More technologies will be discussed at the first IEEE International Smart Cities Conference, to be held from 25 to 28 October, in Guadalajara, Mexico, according to Wang, who also leads the conference task force.

“The smart cities initiative is actually an umbrella project,” Wang notes. “The key idea is how do we use human wisdom and technology to support smart growth and improve peoples’ well-being. I think the initiative comes at the right time and, for a lot of places, at the right stage of development.”

People who are fascinated by smart cities are leading much of the enthusiasm, notes Betis. “They are deeply informed and are convinced that by being a member of the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative, they can change the lives of people in their city. We receive a lot of spontaneous offers to work on the initiative.”

Of course spurring some of the interest are the makers of the technologies. Cisco, IBM, Intel, Huawei, Microsoft, Siemens, and Thales and many others have their own smart city programs.

“Clearly these companies know there will be very good business opportunities,” says Wang. “They are proactively designing their products and systems to support the development of smart cities.”

But Betis notes that while the IEEE initiative has representatives from some of those companies, “we remain agnostic in our approach,” he says. “That means we do not favor one company’s technology over another’s. We are a neutral platform—whatever works best for that city as the city decides.”

ONGOING PROCESS
But some cities have a difficult time deciding what is best for them.

According to Betis, there are three models cities typically follow. The first one is a top-down approach whereby the town’s leaders make the decisions, which results in centralized control. The second is a bottom-up approach where citizens participate in making decisions about infrastructure or priorities, say among transportation and utilities, or education. The third one is a collaborative approach where citizens work with each other along with the other two models. He says the last approach is probably opening “a wide area of effective ways of development.”

“That collaboration among citizens creates new ideas for planning, better utilization of available resources such as financial or natural resources, and better use of the city’s legacy,” Betis notes. “This is something more cities have come to understand. Innovation will come from the synergy between centralized, participative and collaborative approaches.”

But, he adds, being a smart city is recognizing that you have to become smarter and smarter. “It’s not just a badge or a diploma. You’ll define the process and establish some objectives but once you reached those objectives, you’ll find new ones. It’s a continuous process, there’s no end point.”

Goa to celebrate Bonderam festival on August 22

Panaji | August 12, 2015: Goa is all set to organize the Bonderam festival, which is celebrated in the island of Divar, located 12 kms from Panjim city, on the fourth Saturday of August. This year the festival falls on August 22, 2015.

The name Bonderam originates from ‘Bandeira’ – the Portuguese word for flag. During the Portuguese rule there were frequent disputes between the villagers on the Divar island over property issues. Thus the Portuguese introduced a system by putting up flags to demarcate the boundaries.

The otherwise laidback island of Divar comes alive on the day of the Bonderam festival. The day begins with a Flag Parade from the main Divar junction, which is accompanied by a Brass Band. After this the Bonderam festival is officially declared open. Later in the day there is a fancy dress competition followed by the traditional float parade and a live musical performance featuring the famous music bands of Goa. The festival begins close to noon and concludes late in the evening.
