Bajaj Auto attains leadership in hi-end Super Sports segment; ahead of all international competitors combined

 Pulsar RS200 & KTM help grow share from 10% to 59% in 2 years


·         Helps Super Sports category to grow by 50%


New Delhi, 22nd June 2015: Bajaj Auto has had a dominant position in the sports motorcycle segment for more than a decade now with its Pulsar brand enjoying more than 40% market share. Recently Bajaj has extended its leadership to   the Super Sports segment of high end bikes priced at Rs one lakh and above.

In a period of two years Bajaj Auto has dethroned the Japanese manufacturers by rapidly gaining market share   from a meagre 10% in June 2013 to a staggering 59% in May 2015. Bajaj Auto entered the segment with KTM and has further strengthened its postion with the recent success of its  Pulsar RS200 launched in March 2015. Riding high on the back of these  successes, Bajaj Auto has not only rapidly gained absolute leadership but also grown the Super Sports segment by 50%.

Says Mr. Eric Vas, President (Motorcycle Business), “The all new Pulsar RS 200 has met with a phenomenal response and has been a runaway success with customers. Within three months of launch, the Pulsar RS 200 has clocked over 7000 bookings and has a two month waiting period. Together with the KTM’s manufactured by Bajaj, we today dominate this hi-end segment and are driving its growth. This rapid domination in hi-end Super Sports segment, well ahead of all international competition, along with the sustained leadership for more than 10 years in the sports segment is testimony to the fact that when it comes to performance bikes, Bajaj is number 1 by far.”

The Super Sports segment in India is poised for rapid growth driven by evolving customer preferences. There are a large number consumers who seek high technology and world class performance  from their bikes. Bajaj Auto is geared up with the KTM’s and the new Pulsar RS200 to fulfil that need.
