Aadhi Aabadi Awards celebrates the power of Womanhood



New Delhi: At a glittering ceremony Bollywood Choreographer Saroj Khan (awarded Aadhi Aabadi Nari Ratna Award for Lifetime Achievement), Indian Boxer L. Sarita Devi (recently missed Gold Medal at this year’s Asian Games), Bollywood Actresses Himani Shivpuri and Divya Dutta, Social Activist Sumedha Kailash were among a host of awardees felicitated at the 6th Aadhi Aabadi Women Achievers Award, 2014 held at the FICCI auditorium in the capital.  

It’s a momentous endeavour by Aadhi Aabadi Awards committee that has few parallels in the country. It celebrates the glory of Indian Womanhood. Now touching its 6th edition, it handpicks the most consummate women achievers of the country and confers honours on them. In the past, the Aadhi Aabadhi Women Achievers Awards galaxy has comprised such illustrious names as MC Mary Kom, Rohini Hattangadi, Zarina Wahab, Nalini Kamalini, Sudha Chandran, Kratika Sengar, Mitali Nag, Vibha Sinha, Richa Anirudh, Varsha Goel, Kalyani Singh, Shreya Vardhan, Geeta Potadar, Ramon Lamba, Romilla Prasad Verma, Archana Sharma...to name a few.

These awards have been instituted to accolade exceptional service of current significance rendered by woman for the country. It is expected that the recognition garnered by Aadhi Aabadi Women Achievers Award awardees will catalyze their efforts towards their respective field and they can be role models for the society. In turn these Awards will increase willingness for the common women folk to achieve something for themselves and do good for the society. Today, it has acquired the status of being one of the most prestigious statuette for a Women Achiever to have in the country.

The illustrious list of the awardees of the sixth edition included Social Activist Kisan Chachi, TV Personality Anuradha Prasad, Shoe Designer Swati Mode, Women Rights Lawyer Sugandha Munshi, Oncologists Dr Bhawna Sirohi and Dr Tijendra Kataria, TV actors Shiju Kataria, Pooja Gor and Prachi Behrani, Singers Mandakini Bora and Benzy (alongwith her mother), Film Critic Aruna Vasudev, Socialite Rita Gangwani and IAS officer Rita Menon.

On the occasion of the facilitation ceremony Smt Meenu Gupta, Executive President of Aadhi Aabadi Women Achievers Award Committee and Executive Director of Invicta Media says “Even though all women are worth recognizing for the efforts that they put to bring happiness, love and bonding for their families, we at Aadhi Aabadi Women Achievers Award recognize the contribution of women who give their time and energy to make our Nation a better place. It recognizes and honors women who have demonstrated qualities of leadership and excellence in their professional and personal endeavors as well as their contributions to the community at large.”

The mood of the evening was electrified by the scintillating performance by Television Stars Richa Soni, Ekta Tewari and mind boggling comedy acts by the popular stand-up comedian Navin Prabhakar. The jam packed auditorium full of energy saw many eminent people having a gala time that included Nobel Peace Prize Winner Shri Kailash Satyarthi, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Kalraj Mishra, Bhojpuri singer and MP Shri Manoj Tiwari, MP Shri Giriraj Singh, MP Smt Meenakshi Lekhi, Sulabh NGO’s chairperson Shri Bindeshwari Pathak, Delhi Police Commissioner Shri B.S Bassi, Secretary Art, Culture & Urban Development Shri S.S Yadav, Padamshri  Dr. KK Agarwal, Prayas Chairperson and Former Bureaucrat Shri Amod Kanth rubbing shoulders with Bollywood actors Raju Kher and Deepti Bhatnagar.
