India’s biggest filmmaking event now gets even bigger – announces Shyam
Benegal, Hansal Mehta and Umesh Shukla as jury for its 2014 edition
Mumbai, August 06,
2014: India Film Project, the largest filmmaking event in the country,
announces its 4th edition with renowned filmmakers Shyam Benegal, Hansal
Mehta and Umesh Shukla donning the Jury’s hat. The event that aims to provide
an unmatched platform to aspiring filmmakers, challenging them to create a film
in a span of just 50 hours, is now calling for entries and will close
registrations on 7th September 2014.
The India Film Project is a unique national online & offline event
that gives aspiring filmmakers an opportunity to showcase their talent to not
just the best in the industry but also the world. The India Film Project
challenges one to script, shoot, edit & submit a short film in just 50
hours once the theme is announced. 50 hours is all you have to interpret the
subject, write a brilliant script, discover the most appropriate location for
the shoot, select good cast for the movie, compose gripping music and submit
your entries online.
The eminent jury will review each and every entry and the winners will
get a chance to showcase their talent to the rest of the world.
Speaking on the launch, Hansal Mehta says, “Film challenges
like this are an excellent opportunity for upcoming filmmakers to hone their
skills and network with peers in their community. I am excited to be a part of
this amazing contest and hope to see some great work”.
Indian cinema's most
prolific and influential filmmaker, Shyam Benegal says, “IFP is a great
platform to discover new talent. I am eager to see the work done by the
aspiring filmmakers in just 50 hours and wish them good luck”.
“I'm always excited to see what young and
emerging filmmakers are up to and I think India Film Project 50 hours contest is
a fantastic challenge for them to show off their talent – passion and
sensibility towards movies”, enthuses Umesh Shukla, Director of ‘Oh My God’.
“There is a film-maker
in each one of us. Each one of us has a unique style of telling a story. With
this thought at the genesis, we launched the India Film Project. Our growth
from 600 entries (11 cities) in the first year to 4200 (44 cities, 5 countries)
in the third; is a validation of our belief. We hope that India Film Project
continues to be a platform that popularizes the art of filmmaking and we look
forward to seeing some innovative and imaginative films this year as well, says
Ritam
Bhatnagar, Founder-Director, IFP.
So if you always dreamt
of becoming a filmmaker and showcasing your talent to the world, now is your
